The Derbyshire Flying Centre was established in 1987 by Stephen Hudson CFI - British Hang Gliding team member. The UK is the best place to learn to free fly. We are here to open up new horizons for you to share what has been described as"an experience beyond imagination" the ability to fly as free as a bird. For over twenty years we have negotiated training hills in the beautiful Peak District National Park and have access to free flying hill sites covering all wind directions and all pilot abilities. We are a friendly team whose intimate knowledge of local sites and conditions will make your passage to pilot a success. We have a history of successfilly qualifiing people to club pilot standad. Safety. Hang Gliding and Paragliding are extreme sports and like all adventure sports are dangerous, you must take care of your own safety at all time. If you intend to free fly Hills or Mountains in the UK. you cannot learn the apropreate skills from a Tow or Foregn school. Location. The school is situated in the centre of the Peak District only forty minutes drive from Sheffield, Manchester, Derby and only three hours from London. You may be thinking 'Why try to fly?'.
